To stop bacteria or alage growing in the tubes of your moisturizers, preservatives are used. But these good preservatives are actually a necessary evil. Not only your facial creams and lotions and even edible products which contain water in them have preservatives in them. The reason for this is simple, the products which contain water in them will be a great medium for bacteria to thrive.

To prevent this preservatives are used. Preservatives are always synthetic in nature. There is a preservative called phenoxethanol which they say is natural. These preservatives as every one know are not good for health but without them using face creams is also not healthy because of the of the bacteria and mould that grow rapidly without preservatives.


There are many products which says preservative free, common everone knows that no edible or water containing product has a long self life without preservative. There are some products where they use essential oils for preservation but this is not effective for very long life.
They are still have to develop a natural preservative which is not harmful when used into or on your body. Till then we have to go with these synthetics ones with satisfaction that there are mild.
